University of Texas School of Law graduate and highly-experienced energy sector executive Duke Ligon has resided in Oklahoma City for most of his life. Mr. Ligon is the CEO of Mekusukey Oil Company, a mineral management company he founded in Oklahoma City. Before beginning his executive career, Duke Ligon was a captain in the US Army and received a Bronze Star Medal in recognition of his service.
Bronze Stars are awarded to service members who perform acts of heroics or merit during military ground operations. The award was first instituted in 1944 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Bronze Stars can be awarded directly to veterans of combat, to their families, or to soldiers of foreign armies who supported the US in a ground battle.
Bronze Stars have a distinct design. The striped ribbon contains the colors blue, white, and scarlet red. The medal itself is cast in bronze in the shape of a five-pointed star.
